Radio Frequency Identification tags (RFID) are an essential part of day to day life as the technology is growing day by day. RFID tags are considered as a special type of tracking system which uses radio frequency waves of electromagnetic spectrum for search, tracking and for communicating with people. Moreover RFID tags are smart tags or labels which is able to store a large amount of data regarding the item such as its serial number, price, short description etc. some of those RFID tags also contains cryptographic details for security means and can be used for high level verification and authentication.

These RFID tags are identified using the type of radio signals used in them based on their frequency. They are low frequency, high frequency and even ultra-high frequency. Let’s see how each of these RFID tagging works.

    • Low frequency (LF) systems works within a range of 30 to 300 KHz and upto a range of 10 cm. so they are used in applications like access control, car- key fob, applications regarding high volumes of metals and liquids and livestock monitoring. It has low range and low memory, low transmission range and high cost of production.
    • High Frequency (HF) systems works within a range of 3 to 30 MHz and up to a range of 10cm to 1m. They are usually used for user experience applications, library books, personal ID cards, NFC applications, gaming chips as well as in electronic ticket payments. It possess all global standards like NFC global protocols, larger memory but it has short range and low data transmission range.
    • Ultra-high frequency (UHF) systems works within a range of 300 MHz to 3 GHz and up to a range of 12 m. This is commonly used in inventory tags, door access, parking garages, vehicle tracking, mining, construction, supply chain tracking and many more.

Whenever you consider of introducing a new system, you need to consider two main questions like, weather the company will get and return on its investment and when will you receive those investments, if any. As you can see there exists a large number of RFID suppliers who provides RFID solutions like jewelry tags, inventory tags and many more. But you need to consider the fixed costs, labor costs, maintenance costs before implementing a new system into your company.

Being the best RFID supplier, we ensure you the best RFID tags which will not drags you any sort of extra cost at any means. So you need to think twice before selecting the RFID supplier and must assess both the cost feasibility as well as application feasibility.

RFID tags can also fall under active or passive tags. The most common and easily available RFID tags are passive tags as it does not require any direct line of sight with the reader and also it is much smaller in size and lightweight when comparing with active tags. Passive RFID tags can be used in areas like,

    • Logistics
    • Assess management
    • Supply chain and inventory management
    • Apparel and retail
    • Travel
    • Entertainment
    • Healthcare and pharmaceuticals
    • Anti- counterfeiting
    • Real time location systems using 3D orientation
    • Industrial and manufacturing
    • Asset and personal tracking

Active RFID tags are less commonly used as they require their own power source and transmitter for working. These tags will be more bulky, durable and even more expensive when considered with passive tags. It will be also in larger size and are heavy to handle when compared to passive RFID tags. These tags can be used for constant medical monitoring, theme park attendance and for RTLS.
